By air

Bern has a small airport served by Skyworks (www.skyworks.com), an airline that offers direct flights from various European cities (e.g. Amsterdam, London, Berlin). Consider choosing this airport even when the airfares are slightly more expensive: connecting trains to Bern from the main airports can cost about 50CHF each way.

On landing in Bern, take a taxi; or the bus to Belp train station and S-Bahn train to Bern main railway station. Then change to tram No. 9 in the direction of ‘Wankdorf Bahnhof’ to the ‘Kursaal’ stop.

If you are unable to travel directly to Bern, all major international airlines and low cost carriers fly to Swiss airports: look for the best alternatives to travel to Geneva, Basel or Zurich.

Train services are frequent and easily accessible from all major airports to Bern (approx. 90 minutes of travel time). It is recommended to buy the train ticket from outside Switzerland via the internet: https://www.sbb.ch/en/

If instead you plan to extend your stay and to travel to other locations, consider other options such as any of the SWISS TRAVELCARDS or the SWISS HALF-FARE CARD, which are also valuable if you plan to use boats or cable cars within Switzerland.  You can also buy SUPERSAVER tickets, available from one month in advance for most train services. For all these services check the SBB website: https://www.sbb.ch/en/home.html

By public transport

Bern is located in the heart of Switzerland and easy to reach by public transport.
